Half of Boys in UK Missing Writing Standard

Excerpt: "David Hart, general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers...blamed the slide - the percentage reaching the required standard fell one percentage point this year putting them 17 points behind girls - on a culture among boys "that says it's cool not to learn."

We think David Hart may really be missing something here. There are biological differences in the ways that boys and girls and men and women process language, and writing, like other language tasks, is often a more difficult task for boys more than girls.

If information is processed differently, the different educational approaches might be more appropriate.
